Category descriptions

Note:  All competitors must choreograph their own sets.  One or more member(s) of a troupe can choreograph for the group. If you have questions about music or anything else, please don't hesitate to email me at info@namiraproductions.com

Diamond (Pro) of the Sierra
Professional Category (male or female) 7 minute time limit. Middle Eastern music only (no alternative music). Promotes or advertises self as a teacher or professional performer. Zills/Sagat are required and must be played during some part of the performance.  Other props may be used but are not required and will not be given extra points for their use. 

Emerald (Diva) of the Sierra
45 years or older, any exp. (male or female) 7 minute time limit. Middle Eastern music only (no alternative music).  Zills/Sagat are not required, but may be used.  Other props may be used, but are not required. 

Sapphire (Non-pro) of the Sierra
Non-professional category (male or female) 6 minutes time limit.  Middle Eastern music only (no alternative music).   2 or more yrs. exp. Does not perform for money on a regular basis and does not teach.  Zills/Sagat are not required but may be used.  Other props may be used but are not required. 

Ruby (Troupe) of the Sierra
8 minute time limit. For all levels of dancers performing as a troupe/group (three or more performers). All dancers must be dancing through entire performance except for short transitions and no solos will be allowed. Middle Eastern Music only (no alternative music).  Zills/Sagat are not required, but may be used.  Other props may be used but are not required.
